A lay Christian

When God does, He does with His whole being, with every attribute that He possesses (love, kindness, mercy, justice, etc.). The more we become like God, the more we act with God’s one-ness, demonstrating and employing all the Holy Spirit-empowered attributes of God in us. Thus, when we cook, sleep, work, shop, we do so as God would. As a lay professional, I don’t need to try to integrate God consciously into my work, for when I am spirit-filled, I am working as God would work.

A waste of truth

Most of us go through life praying a little, planning a little, jockeying for position, hoping but never being quite certain of anything, and always secretly afraid that we will miss the way. This is a tragic waste of truth and never gives rest to the heart. A. W. Tozer

God’s Trickle Down Economics

God as Creator and Giver of all things asks us to pass down to others what we receive from Him, especially forgiveness. In this passing on, which is a god-like activity, we get to experience a little bit of what it must be like for God to give good gifts to his creations as our sustainer and provider. It is the perversion of this that drives power-hungry and corrupt leaders to make others dependent on them, so they can continue their reverie of being a god.

Vines, Branches, and Remaining

John 15:5 — like marinating - just leaving the meat in the sauce, to soak, to imbibe, becoming better and more tender. The meat doesn’t do anything; it just remains.  I want to remain in Christ in 2010, to really be still with Him and know that He is God.
